The Rodriguez Family

Our Story

Our family is originally from Northern California and moved to Central Florida in 2021. Our family of four and five Bassets camped across the U.S. and landed in Clermont, FL where we stayed for a year until we bought our home in Floral City, FL. Although we miss our friends and family back in California dearly, we absolutely love it here in Florida. Back in California we got our first Basset Hound, Charlie, in 2015 after a year long search for him. There were so few breeders in California that it took another year to find Lola! That is what inspired us to become breeders, there were far too few bassets in the world and it was so hard to find them. We had our first litter in 2019 when Gerald was born and our lives were never the same. Although Gerald looks albino, he has actually been tested and is considered extreme white piebald. All this means is that he has lack of pigmentation on most of his body, he is 100% healthy! In 2020 we picked up Evie in North Carolina and in 2021 we picked up her sister Emmy. Our beautiful Basset family was coming along nicely. After we moved into our home in Florida, we welcomed Gerald and Evie’s first litter. We were happy to announce that their son Rusty would be staying with us, bringing us to a six Basset family and couldn’t be happier!

Our Breeding Program

Formerly known as California to Florida Basset Hound Puppies on Facebook and @the_great_white_basset on Instagram. Our new name may be simple, but it says everything about the things we love and stand by. Our family is the most important thing to us and that includes all the dogs and puppies. It is a family effort to help bring them into this world, be there to care for them their first 8 weeks and to help find them the loving homes they deserve. You can ask anyone in our family how much hard work it is to have a litter, it’s a 24/7 job for over 2 months each litter. The sleepless nights, the tears, the missed parties, the smelly house… they are all worth it to watch them grow up, the puppy cuddles and kisses, seeing them trip over their ears, watching them wrestle each other and seeing how one lil pup can make the biggest, most wonderful impact on someone’s life! We do not breed AKC show dogs, but we breed loving family dogs who are loved, held and talked to everyday from our living room. Our puppies are checked-in with all day by Mom, Dad, Auntie, Brother, Cousin, Grandma and Papa! And that’s just the Basset family! We just want you to know that these dogs and puppies have a wonderful life here in our home and hopefully one day you could join our extended Basset Family <3
